Recap: Block Party featuring Cameo

Greetings Fashion Pad Readers,

How was your weekend? I enjoyed mine immensely. My lovely cousin had her wedding on this past Saturday and it was soooo beautiful!!! I can't wait to share pics with you all. In addition, yesterday I attended a banquet to celebrate the 25th anniversary of our community marching band. My uncle is the mastermind behind this organization that caters to kids ages 12 - 18. He teaches them how to play instruments and provides them with leadership skills and opportunity to travel. The band participates in competitions and parades. Over 90 scholarships have been awarded through the work that my uncle and various community leaders do for those kids. I'm a product of the band as well! I spoke during the reflections section and danced my butt off during the mini concert, lol. Of course I will share pics from that event as well.

On the previous weekend, I attended a free block party in downtown Orlando hosted by Tom Joyner and our local radio show, Star 94.5. Every year they throw this block party and it is a huge event.....I mean, it is FREE!!! Me and my bff had the best time ever (although I say that about every event I attend, lol). What can I say....I'm so blessed!

It was hot as HELL out there! The gates opened up at 4pm but my bff and I decided to head out around 6pm because we heard that the featured artist...Cameo...wasn't going to be on until late. I'm so glad I dressed in lightweight fabrics because the heat was indeed smoldering. 

Me and the bestie Ann Marie......please pardon our "glistening" skin....like I said before, it was hot as HELL!

She knows folks in high places...we were able to get VIP tix.....BOOM!

This guy performed old Michael Jackson hits and he sounded JUST like him. I swear he was so awesome I would certainly hire him for my family reunion if I could, lol.

Needless to say it was a gang of folks out there....

Cameo revealed that they had been making and performing music for over 35 years.....wowsers, who knew! And yes folks....the lead musician is still wearing the bedazzled scrotum cover (yea, I made up a name for it...so what?)

We shut the place down! I knew waaayyyy more songs than I thought I knew. Music is in my blood I tell ya ;-)

Side note: The people in the parking garage behind me were among the rowdiest, LOL.

I had to get a close up of this guy's net shirt....where on earth did he get that??? It had to be custom made! But the real breath taker is that gorgeous electric guitar he's wielding.....whew *fans self vigorously*
