Weekend Recap - Food and Fashion

Greetings Fashionistas,

TGIF!!!! I'm ecstatic that the weekend is here! The NBA All Star festivities are happening here in my city and I plan to have my face in the place! LOL. On top of that.....the Daytona 500 is also this weekend. There is not a hotel room or vacation home available for miles. I just hope my city is able to accommodate these two enormous events without much headaches for the locals. Anyhew, I got to get my style game on because I went to All Star in Las Vegas and it was cray cray! I'll be attending the NBA Rising Stars Challenge tonight with my nephew because he and I both looovvveeee basketball. I'm currently unsure what I'm wearing because I have to balance the fine line of stylish, practicality, and fierce! The actual All Star game is on Sunday but my pockets aren't that deep. The lowest tickets I could find were $500 bucks!!! Ummm.....that can be used for my Christian Louboutin Pigalles.......when I locate them. So I will be watching from the comfort of my living room, LOL. Make sure you follow me on Twitter to get my updates and any celebrity pics I capture. I'm not a stan for anyone, but if they're rocking a fly outfit....they will be captured ;-)

Last weekend I went to Maryland to visit my beautiful homie and her new baby. It was a relatively short trip for me and I didn't do any real shopping......bummer. I literally got in late on Friday night, watched Whitney Houston's funeral on Saturday morning/afternoon, played with the baby, went out to dinner, and visited a weak "mall". And next thing I know, I was leaving. *le sigh*

This will be the only outfit pic the entire trip. Wasn't that cold so of course I was mad. I mean, I like traveling during the winter so I can break out every boot, scarf, and coat in my wardrobe!

We had dinner here at Carolina Kitchen......

I had the smothered pork chops. The pork chops and rice were the BOMB.COM.....however, the collard greens were 'sweet' and the mac n cheese should have simply been named 'cheese'. I couldn't find more than 5 macaroni noodles....no lie. Now let me vent for a minute. Collard greens should never be sweet. I once had a lady tell me she puts sugar in her greens to mask the bitter taste. Ummm, ma'am.....they are not that bitter and if you season them well with neckbones and fat backs and cook them the appropriate length of time you will never experience a "bitter" taste. I once had some crunchy greens....EWWW! Oh thank the good lawd for my grandmomma and mother!!!

Pretty girls.....from left: Keysha, Brandy (new mommy and newly enganged - whoop whoop!), Brandye, me

Okay.....so we did do a bit of shopping, although I was unlucky. We went to a mall called "White Flint'' and it sucked the life outta me. It was so dead and the stores were old and full of nothing! It was cray.

Somebody wasn't on the job that night.......

Cute outfit!!!

Okay being from DC I would never recommend Carolina Kitchen....you would have been better off going to Kobe's if you like japanese steak houses....OR if you want some really guaranteed collard greens/friend fish and mac and cheese head to D.C. and hit up Horace and Dickie's Gurrrrrrllll the truth.com. I only like White Flint for the restaurants inside the shopping is definitely THEE worse....hit up Pentagon City next time...anywho glad you had fun I have been so jealous of the weather there since I am in old cold Chicago....and have fun at AllStar weekend!
LOVE those cap toe boots!!!!!!
Happy Friday!

I agree with everything you said about collard greens... someone cooked greens for Thanksgiving dinner at my aunt's (none of my blood family members) and put a ton of sugar in them- EEEEW.

Love your scarf!
