Spring Trends - Part I

Greetings Fashion Friends,

I want to first send a birthday shout out to my mommy!!!! Happy Bday Lady!!!! I freakin' love her :-)

Now, let's get to my oft delayed spring trend review. Per usual there are quite a few trends so I'll be reviewing about 2 a day for the next couple of days. I'm sorry guys but I just can't cover all the spring trends :(

First up is........COLOR-BLOCKING. Now I know we're are certainly no stranger to this trend as it has been revitalized within the past couple of years but trends stay around for several seasons and fads only come in and go out within a particular season (i.e. harem pants).

The lovely Kerry Washington looks beautifully on trend as she rocks her color block dress at the New Yorkers for Children's Spring Dinner dance. The image to the right features a lovely frock at Prabal Gurung. We can get into this trend with a couple of affordable items below.

Left: Pleated Color-Block Trapeze dress

Right: Marc by Marc Jacobs High Tide

Color-block small boat bangle

I absolutely love that trapeze dress. It's sooo colorful! But remember, trapeze style dresses can make you appear much larger than you are. Make sure you cinch the waist with a belt if you have to have it.

Left: Unisex Fine Jersey Tri-color Shirt

Right: Color Block Dress $17.80

The lovely thing about color-blocking is that you can really mask "problem" areas by getting a style/color combo that hides those areas. Remember, darker colors will cover the area and bright colors will draw the eye away from it.

The next spring 2011 trend we're going to cover today is.........70s GLAMOUR. Yes, the 70s are back as well. I am such a fan of the 70s due to the mix of high end and low end styles that were infused throughout the decade. Not to mention, the pieces created in that era spawned several inspirations for designer collections for years.

Take a look at the above designer pieces. The gold wedges are hot! They were spotted on the YSL runway. On the right, Chanel paid an ode to 7os Glamour with the long, ombre fringe earrings. Loves it!

Kourtney Kardashian rocks a vintage 70s Glamour look. I love how "wearable" the outfit looks. Now look at some hot bargains below.

Left: Fade to Blue High Heel Bell-Bottom Jean

$49.00 (on sale) http://www.lastcall.com/

Right: Glamour Diamond Drop Earrings

Large, dangley earrings are just one key to getting the "glamour" for your look. Those bell-bottoms are simply iconic.

Left: Jones New York Collection Silver Lame

Front-tie Blouse $54.00 (on sale)

Right: Wild Pair Groovy WP

Now you know we can't do 70s Glamour without a billowy tie-front blouse or sky high platforms. It would be a dis-service.

So what do you guys think? Are you down with the above trends?
