Sequined Separates

How are you all doing? I had a couple inquiries yesterday about my lack of posts. My bad....I just forgot. Actually, a more disturbing fact is that I thought I had it done. I think I was just thinking about doing it. Oh well.

Today I wanted to discuss the sequin separates trend. Daytime sequins has always been a dividing discussion in the industry. Some believe that sequins during the day should only be delegated to accessories, however, a good many believe sequin separates can be worn during the day too. Well, my bff and I talked about this recently as well and I thought maybe you guys had this issue too. As a result, we're focusing on the proper way to incorporate sequin separates into a daytime look.

Beyonce sports this trend with her uber cute sequin shorts as she's spotted out in Manhattan a couple of months ago. Beyonce's outfit is a tad bit dressy with the addition of the tights and leather blazer. If you wanted to make this more casual, you could omit the tights, go with a pair of flats. Or you could keep the heels, remove the tights, and eliminate the long necklace chain.

I love Kim's cropped sequin jacket she wore for a QVC event in February. The light color is perfect for a daytime event and the heels can be switched to flat gladiator sandals and natural makeup. Melanie's (formerly of the Pussycat Dolls) peep toe Louboutins will work with a pair of light wash skinny jeans and a fitted white tee.

JLo was spotted at a promo event for Venus back in January. That skirt is challenging but I know it could work with an oversized light gray tee (shaped like a dolman style) and peep toe flats. Do not add jewelry and make sure you go natural with the makeup. You could also through on a petite crossbody bag to give it more of an "I'm running errands but I'm still stylish look". Fergie wore her sequined jacket at a press conference in January. This jacket is cut perfectly and the style is so rocker chic that it can easily be worn during the day or night. I would mimic Fergie's outfit but switch the heels to a pair of motorcycle or combat boots.
