Reader Request: Styling for a Baby Shower

Greetings Fashion Pad Followers,

I have another reader request to share with you all from super fab reader Brandy.

Could you please help me find a cute outfit for my baby shower? I would prefer to wear a dress. I may be preggo, but I'm still fly so heels are a must.

Thanks in advance,

Okay B. It's time to get you right for this very special occasion. Preparing to bring a child into the world is a beautiful blessing, but while you're prepping for the arrival of your bundle of joy, don't neglect the fabulous mommy! Because I'm unfamiliar with the setting for the shower, I created outfits that ranged from casually chic, to glamorous mommy. Now let's get styling woman ;-)

Styling for a Baby Shower - Part VIII

Supertrash off the shoulder dress, €110
Supertrash suede boots, €170
Miss Selfridge suede clutch, £28
Vintage drop earrings, $16

The dress I chose for the above set is definitely NOT a maternity dress, lol. However, it has ample draping around the midsection that I know would accommodate an "extended belly" ;-) I would categorize this set as casually chic. The booties would give you some much needed ankle support....while being an absolute fab addition to this off the shoulder dress.

Styling for a Baby Shower - Part VII

Modstrom floral print dress, €35
Forzieri leather biker jacket, $598
Christian louboutin pumps, $1,195
Miss Selfridge black handbag, £35
Ranjana Khan drop earrings, $257
Mascara Noubamathick - Nouba - Sort - Makeup - Skønhed - NELLY.COM..., 165 DKK
Revlon Vernis à Ongles Couleur N°022 All Fire Up, €11

The above set is a good example of how to "winterize" a maxi dress. Let's face it, maxi dresses are just plain cute and comfortable. When you add a classic moto jacket and platform heels, you transform this laid back look to a more dressy and rocker chic outfit.

Styling for a Baby Shower - Part VI

Sheer dress, $60
Dorothy Perkins blazer, £25
Guess Shoes platform heels, $120
Sara Berman animal print clutch, $477
Hive Honey gold plated necklace, $28
Amazon.com: Baby Shower Gift Basket for Twin Babies - Boy and Girl -..., $500

I'm sorry but the above set is more for me than you :-( I saw that leopard print clutch and got distracted, lol. But seriously, adding a modern take on a lovely classic is the perfect complement for a stylish mommy-to-be. I also favor a monochromatic look when going with punchy accessories. To add interest, go with different shades of one color as shown with the blazer and dress above.

Styling for a Baby Shower - Part V

Melissa Odabash silk caftan, $441
Elie Saab platform sandals, $636
Rebecca minkoff handbag, $395
LK Designs bohemian jewelry, €109

Who says you can't rock a caftan in the fall??? The key is to go with a style in a fall color and pair it with statement accessories such as the fab heels, clutch, and earrings above.

Styling for a Baby Shower - Part IV

Cut out dress, $65
L.A.M.B. leather high heels, $238
Foley Corinna hobo shoulder bag, $298
Ashley Pittman bronze jewelry, £395
Ileana Makri gold jewelry, £695

In the set above, I think a dress with a cinched waist is possible for a pregnant diva. Just choose one with an elastic waist so that it stretches over any widened areas. Those heels will surely keep the focus on you.......oh yea, and the baby ;-)

Styling for a Baby Shower - Part III

H M drape neck dress, £25
ASOS peep toe bootie, $58
Tote hand bag, $399
Linea Pelle wrap jewelry, $65
Rimmel London Kate Lipstick, $9.87

You can never go wrong with an all black look. It's an instant classic and it's super slimming. The draping on the dress above will have folks looking for your baby bump! I would also suggest going with a bold lip to really make this outfit pop!

Styling for a Baby Shower - Part I

Asos maternity, $45
Leopard pumps, $50
ASOS fold over clutch, $81
Miss Selfridge chain bracelet, £14
Kenneth Jay Lane filigree earrings, $75
Ileana Makri gold jewelry, £695
Lancome Cosmetics and Skin Care Official Site: Make up, Skincare,..., $42

As you can see from the other sets, I didn't choose a maternity dress in either one. I have nothing against them, but why limit my search to one particular style if I can find other types of dresses to accommodate you? Well the dress above is so super cute and a plus is that it IS a maternity dress. If you want to rock the glam look, just make sure you pair with statement making metallic accessories.

Styling for a Baby Shower - Part II

Maternity, $70
David lerner, $99
Stiletto pumps, $50
Dune leopard print clutch, £55
Mawi silver jewelry, $725
Oscar de la Renta beaded earrings, $500
Clear necklace, $36

So I had to add in a set without a dress juuuusssttt in case you changed your mind and wanted to wear some pants. I think a pair of leggings would be perfect for a growing belly and they look awesome paired with a tunic or oversized top like the one above. This look is definitely for the glam diva as the accessories really take it up a notch.

Well, I hope these sets gives you the perfect selection for your baby shower attire. Thanks so much for the request!

Arrivederci!

Cute choices!! I really applaud any woman that can wear heels while pregnant. I mean in the 1st trimester yeah and maybe into the second but going into the 3rd, maaaaaannnn!!! Heels were no where on my radar during my 3rd trimester! LOL!! I wanted flat shoes or no shoes!! My feet were swollen, back hurt etc... heels were a no go!!
