2011 MET Gala Fashion Recap

Greetings Fashion Mavens,

So last night was the fashion industry's biggest party of the year....The 2011 MET Gala! Every year I'm so excited to see the red carpet arrivals so the fashion divas can strut their stuff. This year, I was not disappointed. I have several looks that I really enjoyed from the evening. I've included here below those looks that just "wowed" me or I felt really took a fashion risk.......and pulled it off.

My favorite look of the night came from Bar Rafaeli. I LOVE her dress. It's stylish AND it pushes the fashion envelope. I love the bold design, metallic colors, and colorful accessories. Definitely MET Gala worthy. Beyonce wore an interestingly designed Emilio Pucci gown. I saw a lot of negative critiques for her dress but again, it was daring, she looked confident in my opinion, and she wore the dress.....not the other way around like some of the other ladies.

Diane Kruger's Jason Wu dress was just splendid. I love the deep slit, sheer top, and jeweled applique on the chest and sleeves. Just gorgeous! The old school Hollywood glamorous hair was a great complement as well. Christina Ricci looks wonderful in her intriquitely designed Zac Posen number. This dress takes me back to her Adams Family days. However, now she's all grown up and looking absoluely fly!

I just knew Janelle Monae was going to understand the platform for the MET Gala. She rocked her signature style with a few sexy updates like her platform heels and come hither veil. She always pushes the fashion envelope and I, for one, appreciate it! Freida Pinto chose a unique Chanel gown from their Spring/Summer Haute Couture collection. This was another gown that had negative critiques but I thought it was a good choice for this event. The sexy menswear take on the skinny tie is genius I tell ya :)

Ashley Greene's Donna Karan gown brought the wow factor. Ginnifer Goodwin's look is another personal favorite of mine. I'm unsure who she's rocking, but that fierce pixie look she has going on is a great complement...as are those heels. Very fashion forward styling here.

Jennifer Lopez raises the glamour bar with her vivacious red Gucci gown. I wonder if her shoulders were irritated all evening. Anyhew, I'm loving Leighton Meester's Louis Vuitton frock. At first, I didn't think it was "glam" enough for the MET but she carries herself as if she's fashion royalty.....in a below-the-knee length dress no less. I must commend her because it works well. Those badass shoes weren't a bad choice either.

I Love Lucy Liu, so she can do no wrong in my book....EVER....that.is.all. Rihanna plays up her Goth side in this lace Stella McCartney gown. Stella is a master of the lace design. She has been killing this trend for a while now. I personally love it....which shows my true appreciation of all things fashion as I do not own one lace item in my wardrobe.

Rumor Willis showed off her fashion forward style in her Badgley Mischka gown. I can really appreciate the design of her dress. I also just happen to love an evening gown that is form-fitting with a softly draped off-the-shoulder sleeve. I know, weird but so what? Salma Hayak is a little muted in Alexander McQueen but like Lucy Liu.....I Love Her, period.

Serena Williams looks gorgeous in her Snow White number. I love her hat....bring on the British influence! Shalom Harlow's sheer gown is absolutely adorable. Once again, daring and fashion forward, yet still stylish is what I'm looking for and she pulls it off.

Solange Knowles rocks out a psychedelic gown with a hodgepodge of shape patterns and contrasting fabrics. This chick has the most amazing style.....casual and dressy. She also falls into the category with Lucy Liu and Salma Hayek....I Love Her!

So which fashions were your favorite?
