Reader Request - Social Weekend

Greetings Fashion Mavens,

I have a reader request from Dahlia I'd like to share with you all.

Hi,

I'm attending several social events this weekend and I need help with some ideas of what to wear. I like dresses, skinny jeans, and shorts but I'm having a brain freeze right now. One of the events is sort of upscale and the others are just places to be seen. My budget is a little tight so I can't go all out but I still want to look feminine, grown, and cute. Love your blog!

Thanks,

Wow, your weekend sounds like fun. The big game between my alma mater, Florida A&M University and our arch rivals, Bethune Cookman University is this weekend. Girl it sounds like we'll both be getting our sexy on, lol. Take a look below for some ideas I put together on a budget.

Okay, for the above, I think it's super fun to play around with trends......in a limited fashion. Throw in this season's biggest trend, animal prints, with a fabulous pair of sky high heels. And yes, those heels are only $9.99. However, you may want to add a Dr. Scholl's foot cushion :-p The satin sheen of the dress will work well for an upscale event....at a hot price!

I don't know if it's going to be cold where you are this weekend. If it is, just add a fur stole or large wrap scarf and keep it moving. Strapless dresses work well on everyone. Now the tricky part is the skirt portion. If you want to look grown and sexy.....and fit, wear a dress that cinches in at the waist and make sure the bottom half grazes your curves. Anyone can fit in the above silhouette and look great. The key is to make sure the dress is your size and that it is not too tight to where it creates bulges. I know the Lanvin heels are the price of someone's mortgage but I just had to add them to give you some inspiration. Sorry.

Okay, we all know by now that skinny jeans can be really flattering to our curves. And they're really comfy due to their elastic properties. Now, just throw on a cute belted top and tough girl heels and you're good to go.

This outfit is honestly for my benefit, but I certainly do hope it helps you. I absolutely love rompers. For me, I'm petite but extremely curvy and they really work for me. But, I do try to stick to solid colors because a busy print does highlight my short torso. The over the knee boots are just the right amount of trend to modernize this look even further and ensure that you will receive some double looks.

Well Dahlia, I hope this helps. Send pics if you can!

TTFN!
